DAY 1:  Nairobi / Masai Mara

After briefing by one of our staff, you depart for Maasai Mara Game Reserve.  Stopovers at the Rift Valley escarpment view for photography and curio shopping to arrive in time for lunch.

At over 1500 sq km, the Masai Mara is heart of the best game-viewing areas of Africa and the most spectacular of all Kenyan parks and reserves with animals, landscape and scenery in plenty. The Mara is one ecosystem with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and has nature’s most dramatic spectacles such of the wildebeest and zebra migration. From July to October every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest and other herbivores embark on an epic trek out of the Serengeti to the Mara.  Predators, which rely on the wildebeest for food, follow them. The result is a concentration of wildlife unequalled for its number and diversity anywhere in Africa.  It is also home to BBC’s Big Cat Diary series, showing the daily life and drama of resident leopard, lion and cheetah.  The vegetation is open grassland with patches of acacia woodland, thickets and riverine forests.
