Day 1:   NAIROBI, KENYA

Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, our team will be waiting for you to assist with baggage and transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 2:  NAIROBI, KENYA

After breakfast, the hotel staff will engage you on your experimental learning in this city hotel.  Lunch and dinner is included.

Day 3:  LAKE NAKURU

At 0700hrs depart for Nakuru to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch you continue with the experimental learning and in the evening you proceed to the park for afternoon game.

 

Lake Nakuru National park is world famous for its bird life and is home to thousands of pink flamingoes and over 400 species of birds! Apart from the spectacular scenery of bird life, the park is well known for its protection of endangered species such as black and white rhino and Rothschild giraffe.

Day4:   ELDORET

After breakfast you proceed with your trip via the Kerio Valley with stopovers at the various look out points amidst Kenya’s Rift Valley lakes, Bogoria and Baringo.  Drive through Kabarnet town onto Chebloch for a nature walk (if time allows). Another stopover will be at Iten (World famous athletes train here).

 

Kerio Valley is part of the Rift Valley which lies on the Eastern part of Eldoret town and is between the Tugen Hills and the Elgeyo Escarpment. The region is of rugged terrain, spectacular land forms, climate and a variety of peoples and cultures. Many world class runners originated from this region. The bottom most part of the valley has a beautiful river with crocodiles, semi tropical vegetation on the slope and semi dry thorn bush. A nature walk with resident guides will take you down the gorges to view crocodile, various birdlife and amazing gorge formations formed over millions of years.

Day 6:  ELDORET

After a hearty breakfast, you drive a short distance to Moi University School of Hospitality Tourism and Events Management for a full day’s joint research initiative.

Lunch will be provided by the university.

Day 8:  KISUMU

Leave Eldoret after breakfast for Kisumu’s Impala Sanctuary where you will have the opportunity to view protected herd of impala and provide safe grazing grounds for hippo from the lake. It is used as a holding point and sanctuary for ‘problem’ animals, such as leopard, hyena and baboon. It is close to Kisumu town and occupies less than one square kilometer. You will thereafter head to Kisumu Hippo Point for lunch and experimental learning at this lake shore hotel.

Day 9:  MASAI MARA

Drive to Masai Mara via Kisii. Drive through tea plantations on to Kisii – Lolgorian onto Oloololo Gate. Lunch will be served at Mara Serena Lodge.  In the afternoon you continue with experimental learning.  In the evening you go for game drive in Kenya’s most memorable game reserve.

At over 1500 sq km, the Masai Mara is heart of the best game-viewing areas of Africa and the most spectacular of all Kenyan parks and reserves with animals, landscape and scenery in plenty. The Mara is one ecosystem with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and has nature’s most dramatic spectacles such of the wildebeest and zebra migration. It is also home to BBC’s Big Cat Diary series, showing the daily life and drama of resident leopard and lion. Vegetation is open grassland with patches of acacia woodland, thickets and riverine forests.

Day 10: MASAI MARA

After breakfast proceed on a half day of game viewing of the Big 5 and other animals within the reserve to arrive for lunch at yet another prestigious tented camp – Sarova Mara Tented Camp. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The park allows close range viewing for extra ordinary photography. At around midday break for your picnic lunch under an African bananite tree shade or by the Mara River hippo pool, looking out for hippo and crocodile. In the evening visit a Masai Cultural Village – the Masai are the world’s most famous tribe is worth the visit.

Day 11: NAIVASHA

Lake Naivasha lies on an alluvium-covered flat in the valley floor and is flanked on the north by an extensive papyrus swamp. It is the highest of the lakes in the eastern part of the rift system, and is situated at 6,180 feet (1,884 m) above sea level. Its level and size fluctuate periodically; in the mid-1970s it covered about 81 square miles (210 square km). Its main tributaries are the Engare Melewa and Gilgil rivers. Although it has no outlet, the lake’s waters are fresh. Several species of Tilapia and black bass (introduced) are the basis of commercial and sport fishing. Bird-watching is also popular.

Day 12:HELL’S GATE

We wake up for breakfast and do a short transfer to the Hells Gate National Park. This is a unique Park where walking or biking is done in the middle of wildlife. Giraffes, zebras, warthogs and many types of gazelles are found here. The first part of this walk /biking is done in typical flat African savannah in a volcanic area with huge rock boundaries. There are camphor and acacia trees all over and this is where to look for the giraffe as they mainly feed on them. Picnic lunch will be at the Rangers post.

 

The second part of the walk is done in the Hell’s Gate Gorge by descending into a steep canyon with running water from geysers and wild vegetation. The climax of the day is in walking in the side Gorge where the rocks have split to leave only a walking path. Climb out of the gorge and get onto your bikes for a ride back to the main gate.

 

Other activities include experimental learning at Naivasha Sopa Lodge.

Day 13: MT.  KENYA AREA

On this day you leave early for Mt Kenya Safari Club on Kenya’s highest mountain, Mt. Kenya.  Standing at 5199m above sea level, is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breath-taking. It is pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation. Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.

Day 14:OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

On this day you leave early Depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It is situated on the equator, between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya.  Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest sanctuary for black rhinos in East Africa boasting an astounding variety of animals, including the chimpanzee.  The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience. Ol Pejeta Conservancy Guests pay a conservation fee for each day spent inside the Conservancy which includes a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary (over 40 chimpanzees), 73 endangered black rhino, 5 endangered white rhinos, elephants, lion, leopard, buffalo, grevy zebra, giraffe, cheetah, Thomson’s gazelle, black-back jackals, ostrich, grant’s gazelle, baboons, waterbuck, Oryx, eland and several hundred bird species.

Day 15:                NAIROBI

Depart for Nairobi after lunch to arrive in the evening.  On this day you will be booked at a budget tented Camp for you to feel the experience – Wildebeest Tented Camp.

Day 16:                NAIROBI EXCURSION

On this day you visit the Kenya National Museum, David Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage (adapt a baby elephant) then proceed to the Giraffe Centre where you get to “kiss” and adult giraffe.  Thereafter you visit the Carnivore Restaurant where you get to eat a variety of meats which include zebra, crocodile and much more. [4hrs]

 

 

Depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outward bound flight.

Extra pair of binoculars (if available).  All our vehicles have a pair each. 

 

Light clothing for the day and at least a sweater or coat for the evenings which might be cold at times.

ACCOMMODATION

 

Accommodation is permanent tented camps and lodges in fenced area with 24 hr. security.  All the tents/rooms have twin beds, instant hot showers, generator power, swimming pools, WI-FI, comfortable beds with mosquito nets and self-contained bathrooms.  The restaurant provides buffet menu for meals and European breakfast.  The bar is also well stocked.
